An outdoor adventure
You can find the British Wildlife Centre in Newchapel, a small village near Lingfield. This zoo features some of the most well-known and loved native animals in Britain, such as red deer, roe deer, otters, badgers, weasels, Scottish wildcats and more. The centre was founded in 1977 by a dairy farmer, David Mills. All visits must be booked online.
Distance from hotel: only a 5-minute drive.
Halloween activity for the kids
Have a spook-tastic time at Drusillas Park, with their Halloween-themed week! Explore the witches lair, where you may meet a cackling character or two, explore the maze once haunted by the park’s resident mummy, and why not spend the day in fancy dress at the park? They’re even offering the spookiest winners tickets to their park next year.
Distance from hotel: up to an hour’s drive.
Our favourite place
Visit the childhood home of one of the wives of Henry XIII, Anne Boleyn. This is the perfect day out for anyone who enjoys a bit of history, and for children who enjoy finding their way through mazes!
Learn about the Tudors and the owners of Hever Castle for 80 years, the Astors. The interior of the building and the stunning gardens are always lovely to stroll around, and you can even hire a boat, try some archery, paint a shield or watch some jousting depending on the time of the year.
Distance from hotel: only a 21-minute drive.
